Peaceful~Scraps Of Darkness December Kit~Winter Wonderland

The Scraps Of Darkness December Kit~Winter Wonderland made it's debut on the 16th, but with it being around the Holidays, Melinda gave the Design Team extra time to do their reveal layouts. That is one of the things that I love about working for the Scraps Of Darkness and Scraps Of Elegance teams, we are very family oriented and Mel never expects us to compromise our families in order to turn out projects.
I have to say,  after taking almost 2 weeks off, I was ready to get back in my scrap room and get my hands dirty!!

Fur, puff paint, and Bo Bunny!!! This kit is just so Winterlicious, it made sliding back into creating a dream!

I went straight for the wonderful and inspiring sketch by Charlotte (Suepup), and  after riffling through the papers, I knew I wanted to do a layout with a snow owl. They are just so gorgeous and peaceful, and I found the perfect photo on http://www.free-picture.net

I used lots of different layers of paper that I distressed, edge painted with the Icicle Stickles and puff pen from the kit, machine sewed, hand sewed, and did some tearing and snow tex painting on some other pieces and the photo.

There was a FAB chipboard tree in the embellishment add on as well as some Leaky Shed chipboard snowflakes in the kit.

I crackle painted them in a first layer, then puff painted the edges and then added micro beads and glitter in spots to add a super Wintery look to them.

I frayed some burlap and added it in behind the photo for a rustic look and then added a "peaceful" sticker from the EAO at the top of the photo.

The flower layer is some stash feathers, and rhinestone button, surrounded by flowers from the kit and floral add on that I edge puffed with the pen from the kit.

I took a circular piece from the stickers in the EAO and edged it with the Stickles from the kit and then gussied up another Leaky Shed snowflake and added on one of the metal charms from the EAO and a stash Prima E Crystal.

I just love all the dimension and texture that the layers and techniques created! If you love techniques, textures and layers then the Scraps Of Darkness Kits and Add Ons are the perfect solution. The kits really are so original and gorgeous and the best thing~they arrive at your door ready to create with!!

Here's to a New Year filled with cups of hot chocolate and tea, fireside naps, and lots of scrappy fun!! Hugs~Renea

Saying Goodbye~Scrapmatts Australian Chipboard

Today, I am posting my last reveal as a Design Team member for Scrapmatts Australian Chipboard. I always hate goodbyes, especially when it is saying goodbye to a position that I have truly enjoyed. I am so grateful to Sofie, Andrew and Angella for having me as a part of the 2013 team, and I will miss them along with all the sweet, talented ladies I have had the pleasure of  working with. Thank you for having me~

The DT were asked to create a layout using the following, inspiring sketch by Anne Patterson:

We were to use a photo of us and the theme "All I Want For Christmas", and this is my take on the challenge, using a photo of me cooking in my kitchen last Christmas. I love to cook and for Christmas, all I ever ask for is for my family to come together at my house and for me to cook a huge dinner for them. Call me old fashion, but that is all I want for Christmas :)

I used Scrapmatts:

along with my Scraps Of Elegance December Kit to create my layout.

I used layers of  Bo Bunny papers that I punched and splatter painted.

Then layered in cheesecloth, flowers, stamped and fussy cut leaves, and some of my hand crafted Ruby Slipper Glitter Glass Butterflies from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

I ran rhinestones strips down from the photo and topped them with the tiny Chipboard Stars that I inked green then accented with red crystals.

I took a large Medium Star that I coated in Inka Gold and accented with a red crystal and tucked it into the flowers at my photo corner.

I added a small sized star to the bottom corner of my photo next to the journal sticker.

And added a large star piece to the top corner of my photo.

Thank you Anne for your FAB sketch!

This next project is a sweet little mini album that I created for a scrappy friend, who has a little dachshund for a service dog.

On the cover and D-rings you will find Scrapmatts:

At the top of the album I used a Scrapmatts

That I two tone, dimensionally painted, and I surrounded the image with Scrapmatts

using the same paint technique.

The first two sets of pages features Scrapmatts:

On the 3rd set of pages there is a fold down that features a Scrapmatts:

And here is a matching over sized tag that I created for her as well.

It features Scrapmatts:

And here is the back view.

I hope that you have enjoyed all my work this year. I have certainly enjoyed all the talented ladies here at Scrapmatt's work and have learned so much!! Thank you for having me and for making me feel so welcome!
I hope you have a Scrappy New Year!! Hugs, ~Renea

Creating Something Unforgettable With Something Tattered Stamps~

Hello everybody! Today I have the honor of being a Guest Designer for Something Tattered Stamps owned by Beth Neumann.   When the Design Team Leader, Tracey Gregory asked me to GDT I was very excited. I love working with stamps and had seen the Something Tattered Stamp line in the Etsy Shop, and loved them! I love working with stamps. They are one of those mediums that are so versatile and they take on the personality of the user, allowing you to express yourself in your own style. They can be used in so many different ways and can add so much visual interest to your projects.

Today, I will take you through a layout that I created using the stamps, and show you a few different ways that you can use the Something Tattered Stamps to create an unforgettable look that is all you.

I used the stamps that were sent to me, along with the Scraps Of Elegance December Kit to create a Christmas layout. I punched, sewed and layered in 3 different base layers. I then added some crochet trim, a paper Doily, some corrugated board that I painted with gesso, frosted up with snow tex and glitter glass for some shine.

To get the look surrounding the Vintage image that I digitally colorized ,

I first took a layer of paper, distressed and inked the edges then stamped the chain link print using the

L Initial Monogram Stamp Set

I then used the
stamped the Laurel pattern onto textured card stock  and then fussy cut it out, I then centered  one of the ornate stamps from the

L Initial Monogram Stamp Set to my resin piece, stamped it then attached my resin piece to it.

To get the look I created on the left side of the layout,

I first hand dyed some seam binding, then stamped it with one of the tiny stamps from the

I then hand drew a little mitten set for templates and created some little hand crafted mittens on textured card stock, adding some fuzzy trim and then stamping the gorgeous pattern using a section of the small "D" Stamp from the
I then colored in the leaf pattern and added a little wooden snowflake with a crystal accent, and created a banner by "hanging" them from the seam binding.

The December sentiment was stamped onto a Spellbinders Die Cut that I misted while it was still in the die for the 2 tone coloring and then stamped using the

I create hand crafted butterflies for my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop, and wanted to create some really unique ones using the Something Tattered Stamps for this layout, so I took some bodies that I digitally created, and stamped them with the large "D" Stamp from the
and colored in the foliage, then glitter painted accents in my own "edgy" style,  and created wire antennas.

Here you can see all the dimension and detail that the stamping and layering creates.

I hope that you have enjoyed some of my stamping techniques. I loved working with these high quality, wonderfully designed stamps. The designs came out so crisp and gorgeous time after time, and a plus was that they are clear stamps which I prefer to work with, because you can see where you are stamping when working on items that you are using sections on. The images came out FABulously whether I was stamping on the seam binding, the textured paper, or a smooth surface, and I fell in love with intricate, yummy designs.

If you would like to purchase some of the stamps for your own collection you can find them here:
or here:

Thank you Something Tattered for having me as a Guest Designer, the pleasure was definitely all mine! Hugs, ~Renea

Collecting Memories With Tresors De Luxe~

Today, I have a large pocket journal that I created using a Tresors De Luxe rhinestone button, and laces.  These pocket journals make a beautiful and unique place to tuck in treasures, journal, and put small photos and mementos  in to.

I started with some Manila file folders that I cut down and then sewed together to form a pocket system. I then layered in papers and fussy cut pieces that I glitter paint accented .

The wide lace at the bottom is Tresors

Lace Fabric Trim~GL-013

I then took a large Prima flower and added a Tresors

Large Rhinestone and Pearl Button~RH-038

to the center for instant glamour, and then surrounded it with more flowers and a sweet little Prima nest. For dimension, I added on a set of  Champagne Dreams Butterflies  from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

I created fussy cut tags with distressed and inked edges. This one has some Tresors

Champagne Pink Venice Lace~LA-124

As it's hang tag.

And this one has some Tresors

Italian White Lace Trim with Fiber Edging ~LA-153

as it's hang tag.

Here is the back side.

And here is the pocket system with all the tags removed. As you can see you have lots of different tags and pieces so that you can collect those special memories and then tuck them all back into one place!

Tresors makes adding elegance and beauty to any project easy! I hope that you find some time during this busy season to create something wonderful for either yourself or someone else. There is truly nothing more FAB than getting or giving something hand made! Hugs ~Renea

Water Color Day Dreams~Tresors De Luxe

Today, I have a layout to share with you that I created using lots of those gorgeous Tresors De Luxe  products and the Scraps Of Darkness November Kit~Water Lilies!
I just love those water color inspired 7 Dots papers and wanted to create a piece that was reminiscent of  a Claude Monet painting. With his love of color, line, and movement, he loved to capture the ballet, which happens to be one of  my favorite things, so I chose to do a ballet piece, and I used a section of a painting by artist, Guan ZeJu as my inspiration.

I layered in my papers, then ran a piece of the gorgeous Tresors

Ivory Lace Fabric-GL-016

up the side of my layout.

I added an inked up Prima Paintable piece then added my photo. I then created a a large floral piece using a Petaloo spray, Petaloo Flowers, some 3 tone misted Prima flowers, and  a Tresors

Pale Pink Velvet And Organza Flower-FL-048

Tucking in some Tresors

Pearl Centered Ivory Organza Flowers-FL-006

I then 3 tone misted a Tresors

And added on some more of the flowers.

In the top corner, I colored up a  Leaky Shed Chipboard piece added another Tresor's Organza Flower, some Petaloo flowers and a resin ballet slipper pieces that I colored up.

To add some texture an softness, I tore out pieces of tissue paper and layered them in under the photo, and then dripped gesso and sprinkled the drips with glitter.

I just love all the texture and softness that the Tresors lace and flowers added to my layout!!

I hope you have a great weekend, and that you find a little time to create something beautiful! Hugs~Renea
